Flow
A good read.
I was fascinated by this book ever since I had read that there was an author
that tried to systematize access flow state.
In fact, the main appeal of the
book is indeed the guidelines that it offers in allowing everyone into the state
of flow.
I have probably been at my happiest whilst in flow state but it had appeared as a casual event, as if by magic. The books aims at explaining the way everyone can tap into this kind of superpower.
What I liked
I liked the scientific approach, the condensed explanation of the “optimal experience” and hand holding that the author does in allowing everyone to experience flow.
What I didn’t like
I liked a little bit less the way the author has tried to sum-up all the facets of life through the lens of optimal experience. Thus, I found the main corpus of the book bit tedious.
However, like many books of this kind, at the center lies a very straightforward concept, that can be easily summarized and easily digested but the book, to drive the point in, drags on and on on the same ideas.
I think a good summary could suffice.
