As a beginner sailor, this was a must read.

Is the incredible adventure of the first solo circumnavigation of the Earth, which happened between early 1893 and 1894.

It’s not written in an “literary” style, it is more of a chronicle, and thus little evidence is left to the reader to the feelings of the seaman. It does though accurately represents the struggle of a lone man in the Ocean(s) against Nature.

I found it, at times, somewhat plain, but it grows on you and you’ll love it in the end.
